Sign up to be a contestant, judge, or volunteer. Just want to bring the family and watch the show? Please do! We ask everyone to bring their favorite Mexican side dish - Island Transit is providing the meat (and drinks) - Tino will be our master chef!


We will have  a raffle ticket drawing for gift cards and goodies for the kiddos.


All the details below:

 

In order for the Bus Roadeo to happen this year, we need a minimum of 6 Operators to signup to compete.

 

The dates for the Roadeo will be June 1st which will be the practice day & June 2nd will be the competition day. All Operators meeting the qualifications are welcome to compete. 

 

What’s in it for me, you ask? Well in addition to bragging rights, you would receive the following:

1st place $300.00 + Trophy

2nd place $150.00 +Trophy

3rd place $50.00 + Trophy

The 1st place finisher will also be registered to compete in the State Roadeo which takes place in Tricities, WA August 10-11 this year.

If you are interested, please sign up on the signup sheet provided by the end of day, April 26th. If the minimum number of Operators is not met, the Island Transit Roadeo will not be held.


The requirements:

EXHIBIT B (From the Safety & Training section of your employee manual).

ISLAND TRANSIT ROADEO CONTESTANT QUALIFICATIONS

1.        Length of Employment: Contestant must have worked as a full-time or part-time transit operator for not less than six (6) months.

 

2.        Individuals in the following job definitions are not eligible to participate in the regular division: journeyman  mechanics, facilities/maintenance employees, administration employees, supervisory personnel.

           

3.        Safe Driving Records: Bus Roadeo contestants must have had in the six months prior to Roadeo entry date, no preventable accidents exceeding a cumulative of $1000.00 total dollar amount of damage in order to be eligible. It should be noted that upon review, some contacts will not be defined as an accident for the purposes of these    criteria (i.e., mirrors to poles/tires to curbs).

 

If someone wishes to appeal a determination or question a dollar amount, he or she shall request a committee     review from the Safety & Health Committee Chair. The Safety & Health Committee shall review the issue brought forth, and make a final decision.

 

4.        Work Record:

a.        Any Transit Operator who has been suspended as punitive action during the past year is ineligible.

b.        Any unexcused absence from work during the past year will make a contestant ineligible.

c.        No negative supervisory report or Positive Performance Counseling sessions (Discipline Category C - step 3 on) for the previous six months.

 

The four eligibility categories are designed to eliminate unprofessional operators as contestants and establish  Roadeo participation as positive reinforcement for Operators who are sincere and dedicated to providing the best of service, courtesy, and safety for ISLAND TRANSIT.
